PSO MD chosen to Promote PACI in region

KARACHI: Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi, Managing Director & CEO, Pakistan State Oil, has been chosen by the World Economic Forum, Geneva, Switzerland, to promote the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) in the region.

The responsibility comes as an acknowledgement of PSO’s corporate transformation and good governance, and will involve pursuing the global public policy goal of reducing and eventually eliminating corruption through development of specific codes of practice to derive measurable actions by the companies.

The PACI Principles have been derived from Transparency International’s Business Principles for Countering Bribery and created in consultation with the Basel Institute of Corporate Governance.

Expressing gratitude for PSO’s invaluable contributions to the development of PACI, the World Economic Forum in their recent communication to Mr Siddiqi stated, “We believe that your experience and expertise will be very valuable in promoting the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative in Pakistan and the wider region. We look forward to continue our formidable partnership and wish to thank you once again for your vision and leadership in supporting PACI.”

As a signatory to PACI, PSO has already pledged its support to the initiative and plans in near future to join with other leading companies around the world to take a visible, public stand against corruption.
