Pakistan State Oil Receives ISMS Certification for Excellence in Information Security

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=550 border=0> <TBODY> <TR> <TD class=text11 height=25>Date: January 5, 2008</TD></TR> <TR> <TD class=HeadLine11 height=30><STRONG>Pakistan State Oil Receives ISMS Certification for Excellence in Information Security</STRONG></TD></TR> <TR> <TD class=text11> <P>Pakistan State Oil, the largest oil marketing company has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001: 2005 – Information Security Management System certification in recognition of its secure multi-site provision of IT Services to PSO offices and Departments. PSO is the first company in the Oil &amp; Gas Industry in Pakistan that achieved this milestone in information security. </P> <P>A ceremony was organized at PSO House today where ISO certification was awarded by Managing Director SGS Mr. Syed Farrukkh Mazhar to Managing Director PSO, Mr. Kalim Siddiqui. On this occasion, Mr. Siddiqui congratulated the IS team at PSO for their outstanding performance.</P> <P>ISO 27001:2005 reflects the quality certification as per the latest internationally recognized standards that should be implemented by Information Systems department of any organization. The objective of ISO 27001 is to provide organizations with a common basis for maintaining information security and assurance for the confidentiality, integrity and timely availability of information’s assets. In Pakistan only other than PSO, eleven (11) organizations including IT companies / software houses mostly affiliates of foreign companies, are ISMS certified.</P></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
