MD PSO inaugurates schools in the 2005 earthquake affected areas

November 13, 2008: Pakistan State Oil as a responsible corporate citizen has been continuously playing its role in community building activities in various parts of Pakistan. In the past few years, the company has been focusing on trying to rebuild schools in the 2005 earthquake affected areas. PSO together with Heritage Foundation established 2 schools in the districts of Mansehra and they are fully operational now.Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of these schools, PSO’s Managing Director, Mr. Kalim Siddiqui projected PSO’s vision of rehabilitation of victims of natural calamities through education. He further added that these schools were a realization of the company’s responsible vision. He thanked Ms. Yasmin Lari, the chair & CEO of Heritage Foundation to facilitate PSO in constructing these schools.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by people of the area especially children who shall be enrolled in these schools shortly. Ten-year-old Gul Khan’s face lights up when he is asked about his new school. “We see a ray of light with the new school. I shall be able to study again,” he exclaims. “Of course I am still a bit scared that another earthquake might hit my community again, but at least I feel more secure in this properly constructed building,” Gul Khan adds.
In addition to these schools, PSO is also constructing a few more similar projects in association with The Citizens foundation. 

Mr. Kalim Siddiqui, Managing Director, PSO inaugurated two schools in the districts of Mansehra for the children affected in the devastating earthquake of 2005. Present on the occasion was the Chair and CEO of Heritage Foundation, Ms. Yasmin Lari and the Director General, Monitoring & Evaluation, ERRA, Brigadier Umer Farooq.
