Senate body appreciates PSO performance

KARACHI: The Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources has expressed satisfaction over the performance of Pakistan State Oil.

The observation was made by the Committee during its meeting at PSO House on May 04, 2006, chaired by Committee’s Chairman Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas.

The Committee recommended that PSO should initiate technical training program for, at least, 13 to 20 young Baloch students under its CSR programme to groom them for job opportunities.

The meeting was told that PSO, in its campaign to aid anti-pollution efforts, has introduced environment-friendly products.

The committee recommended that oxygenators should be created and decided to get a full presentation on environmental issues by MP&NR and Ministry of Environment at Islamabad, based on which the committee will make recommendations for necessary legislation.

The committee decided to convey to the government that since the company is up for privatization, they would suggest to the ministry that the new owners should be bound not to close down outlets in less commercially viable areas of Balochistan and Northern Areas.

Committee members Senator Haroon Khan and Senator Dr Mohammad Ismail Buledi also participated in the meeting.

PSO officials included Board of Management Chairman Pervaiz Kausar, MD & CEO Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi, Executive Directors Kalim Ahmed Siddiqui and Yaqoob Suttar.

Senior officials from Petroleum Ministry and PSO also participated in the meeting.
