President, PM laud PSO role in quake relief
 

KARACHI: Brig. Akhtar Javed Warraich, Director General, Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (ERRA) Pakistan, on Tuesday presented a shield and an appreciation letter to the Managing Director & CEO, Pakistan State Oil, Mr Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi, on behalf of President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in recognition of PSO’s contribution in the October 2005 earthquake relief and rehabilitation operation.

On the occasion, Brig. Akhtar Warraich said that because of its tremendous contribution, PSO has always been found standing out among all donors since the disaster struck the northern Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

He especially mentioned the 5,000 US gallon capacity browser and a hydrant cart, which were sent for refueling of helicopters at Muzzafarabad airport, as well the supply of LPG cylinders, CG sheets and winterized tents by PSO along with other activities.

Mr Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi said that the entire PSO family showed an exemplary alertness in ensuring maximum fuel supply to calamity zones as well as meeting the fuelling requirements of the armed forces, government departments and charitable organizations.

Currently, PSO support is contributing in rebuilding of schools in affected areas.
