Jalees opens PSO-MALC centre

KARACHI: Mr. Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi, Managing Director, Pakistan State Oil, has assured Dr. Ruth Pfau that PSO will continue to support Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre in its fight against leprosy, tuberculosis and blindness.

He was addressing a gathering while inaugurating the PSO-MALC New Karachi Medical Centre on Wednesday, April 19, 2006. The facility, previously being run as MALC New Karachi Triple Merger Center providing free medical services and treatment for the dreaded ailments, has been adopted by PSO.

Mr. Jalees Siddiqi appreciated the immense contribution being made by MALC's dedicated team. He said PSO was sponsoring and supporting a wide spectrum of activities and population under its corporate social responsibility programmes.

Dr. Ruth Pfau, the MALC founder, in her speech praised the contribution of all the donors, including PSO, for their generous support and thanked the field workers for their dedication, which had enabled MALC to achieve successful field results throughout its countrywide network.

Mr. Morven Lobo, Director Administration, MALC, thanked PSO for having adopted the Centre that is serving a population of over 2.5 million people. He also thanked PSO for having adopted MALC centres at Rawalakot in Azad Kashmir, Dir in Chitral, besides Gwadar.

Amongst others present on the occasion were MALC's Dr. Hanna, Dr. Romina Mirza, Mr. Aziz A. Khan, Mr. Abdul Salam, Mr. Ghulam Haider and the centre's workers and patients.
