Upgraded tank lorry fleet to tough 1,000 mark

With three tracking companies now fitting the New Vision upgraded lorries with latest satellite-tracking and pilfer-proofing systems, Pakistan State Oil’s upgraded tank lorry fleet will soon touch the 1,000 mark. Because of the upgraded lorries, PSO will now be making timely and safe deliveries of product while theft cases would be minimized.

     PSO, the oil-marketing giant, is the first OMC that has, so far, arranged 10 cartage contractors’ conferences during the last three years. The company plans to hold another 10 workshops/ conferences for cartage contractors in a three-year period.

     Pakistan State Oil has also taken other measures for the benefit of cartage contractors. The most recent conference in this regard was held on 19 September 2005 at Islamabad.

Other measures taken by the company include:

 

Life insurance facility for drivers and cleaners worth Rs. 300,000 each

   

In-house product loss compensation scheme (insurance) for product loss faced by hijacked lorries

   

Standard rest areas equipped with facilities such as canteen, television sets, medical aid, recreational, mosque, etc., for tank lorry drivers at Keamari, Shikarpur, Machike, Mahmood Kot, Sihala (all installations) and also at retail outlets in Rahim Yar Khan, Jhelum and Lahore
   

Defensive driving course for 13,000 tank lorry drivers
   

Implementation of SAP

   

Extension of fleet management tank lorries to Chakpirana and Tarujabba in addition to the existing locations
   

Construction of logistics co-ordination cells at Shikarpur, Faisalabad and Tarujabba
   

A secured tank lorry parking facility at Sihala, being developed with modern facilities.

 
     All these facilities are being provided with a view to establish a healthy rapport with cartage contractors for ensuring smooth and pilfer-free transportation of petroleum products in order to ensure that customers get quality products and services from the company.
