In order to inculcate knowledge regarding hazardous implications of using Pan, Ghutka and Chalia, an awareness session was organized at Keamari Terminal-C on 02 January, 2010 in collaboration with local NGO, Helpline Trust. During the session, Dr. Mumtaz and Dr. Muzamil apprised the participants about carcinogenic effects caused by using Pan, Ghutka and Chalia. He further outlined that with firm willpower and strong determination, it is possible to get rid of such unhealthy habits. He further emphasized that with continued usage of such items, human body is inflicted with irreparable damage also causing drain of one financial resources.
During the session, the participants availed an opportunity to witness snaps of people who had been inflicted with oral cancer as a result of using such hazardous items. At the end of session, there was a question/answer session during which the participants inquired questions for enhancing their knowledge. IM KTC gave the closing remarks and thanked the Helpline Trust for imparting beneficial and thought provoking knowledge to the audience. Moreover, IM-KTC expressed hope that audience will further educate their loved ones to desist from using hazardous items and hence eradicating the peril.
