Pakistan State Oil is the first company in Pakistan to have launched a fully operational LPG auto-gas facility and conversion center. PSO has once again taken the lead in anticipating the nation’s energy needs and addressing them in a swift and befitting manner. PSO’s first LPG facility is now operational in Lahore at Anwar Filling Station.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as fuel in vehicles or in home appliances through out the world. It is one of the most environment friendly automotive fuels around. Also, keeping the current energy needs of the country in mind, the introduction of LPG, as an alternative to CNG, allows for better utilization of natural gas for high-priority industries without compromising on the refueling needs of the common man.

When specifically used in vehicles, LPG is commonly referred to as ‘Autogas’. LPG gives better mileage over other fuels such as CNG and Petrol. LPG Kit conversion costs are relatively lower than those of CNG Kits, moreover, Autogas usage is considered to be safe.

Perhaps the biggest advantage with LPG autogas, especially for our country, is its constant year-round availability. This benefit alone saves one from the hassle of keeping track of what days CNG stations will be open or closed, at what point during the day they will dry-out and how long is the wait going to be in the massive queues that are now a norm across CNG stations.

PSO’s LPG Autogas has been cleverly branded as 'Smart Gas' in order to resonate three major key benefits associated with the product i.e. safe-to-use, economical-to-use and convenient-to-use.

To take full advantage of being the first fully-operational LPG autogas station in Pakistan amongst OMCs, a short print media campaign was launched with ads placed in major newspaper publications.

Credit for the immediate realisation of this project goes to the various departments of PSO, most ably headed by the Gaseous Fuels Department. To name, Retail Business, Retail Construction and Facilities, Finance, Health Safety and Environment, Legal and Brand Management. Of particular mention here are the efforts of the Gaseous Fuels team based in Lahore, who under the stewardship of their Business Manager and DGM Retail Business Central, left no stone unturned in achieving this milestone for PSO.
