The challenge of providing access to quality education for all is one of the most daunting and important issues facing the country today. Education is the key to achieving sustainable development, expanding opportunities and promoting equality and prosperity in all societies. The way communities respond to this challenge will determine their performance in the ‘knowledge age’. Businesses have a major roe to play in the education sector at a number of critical phases-from investing in community programs for basic education, to working in business schools, and working within companies to raise standards in corporate education and leadership development for the next generation of business leaders.
Rising to the occasion, PSO is providing access in education right from grassroots’ level by partnering with The Citizens Foundation in building schools in Punjab and Sindh.
On a senior level, we are providing scholarship to meritorious and deserving, business management and engineering student at prestigious universities like GIK Institute of Engineering Science & Technology, Topi, NWFP; Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, Sindh; the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad; University of Engineering & Technology, Khuzdar, Baluchistan; and the Punjab University, Lahore.
PSO has also joined hands with other corporate bodies in providing campus building activities at the Lahore University of Management Science and the establishment of Petroleum Engineering Department at the NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi.
To facilitate extra-curricular activities and exposure to the corporate sector, we also sponsor various seminars and workshop by leading colleges and universities.
Taking education a step further and providing the much needed computer literacy in Pakistan, PSO embarked upon its “Life Long e-Learning Program” earlier this year. Under this Umbrella, we are sponsoring two initiatives:
